Weather – EASTER ISLAND
The climate of Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is subtropical, warm and humid in summer and mild in winter, since the average temperatures ranges from 23 °) in the period from January to March, to 18 °C in the period from July to September (the island is situated in the Southern Hemisphere, where the seasons are reversed to those in Europe or North America). During winter, sometimes the night temperature may drop slightly below 10 °C from June to August.

Day excursion to mysteriously interesting sites. Road to Rano Raraku volcano to meet the Ahu Vaihu, an altar with eight moaï overthrown and their caps (pukaos) that rolled on the ground to anchor it. On the way to the rugged coastline south of the island, we will also see the site Ahu Akahanga, considered the necropolis of King Hotu Matua for these royal links, and Ahu Tongariki where 12 moai were almost totally destroyed in the chaos of tribal wars and tsunami in 1960 .
Box Lunch. A packed lunch will be served near the place where the moai were carved on rocks of Rano Raraku volcano. Then, going back by the same route northward, arriving at Ahu Te Pito Kura, site of the largest moai (almost 9.98 meters high and 82 tons in weight) and whose name means “navel of the world”. Finally we get to the Anakena beach where we will find 2 platforms: Ahu Nau Nau and the Ahu Ature Huki.

In the morning departure to visit the Ahu Akivi, platform of 7 moai restored. According to the legend, this seven statues represents the first explores arrived to the Rapa Nui Island, sent by the king Hotu Matua.
We cannot end the excursion without visiting the Puna Pau quarry, where the Pukao or hats of the moai, where sculpted.
Departure to visit the ceremonial site of Tahai with 3 platforms, the Ahu with its statues re-erected. In this site is also located the only moai with eyes.
We will also have the occasion to visit one boathouse, a stone henhouse and a dock completely built in stone.

In the morning we will go up the Rano Kau volcano, from where you will get and splendid view of the island, the coast and the Hanga Roa town. The second viewpoint that we will visit will let us appreciate the crater of the Rano Kau volcano, with the lagoon of more than one and a half kilometers of diameter. We reach the Orongo ceremonial village, where rituals of the Bird Man took place: “Tangata Manu”. Visit of the Ahu Vinapu which architecture reminds us the pre-Inca constructions.
